Suspect Arrested After Jumping Out Of Stolen Vehicle During Police Chase [VIDEO]
MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - A 23-year-old man is facing several charges after leading police on a chase through the streets of Mount Clemens in a stolen vehicle.
Dylan Michael Yates is currently being held at the Macomb County Jail on a $50,000 bond after being arraigned on charges of receiving and concealing stolen property, third degree fleeing and eluding, restricting and obstructing causing injury, and assault with a deadly weapon.
Police say the incident unfolded around 11:30 a.m. Thursday when they received a call from the Clinton Place Apartments about a stolen vehicle. The caller said they were an acquaintance of a motorist who had their 1999 Saturn stolen on Nov. 9, and the car was now located in the parking lot of the apartment complex.
Multiple officers responded to the scene and set up surveillance on the stolen vehicle. When Yates entered the vehicle, uniformed detectives along with ununiformed deputies attempted to place him under arrest. At that time, police say Yates fled in the stolen vehicle and struck several parked cars as he tried to get away from officers.
Marked patrol cars pursued Yates through several streets in Mount Clemens, during which he jumped out of the moving vehicle and started running.
Numerous officers chased after Yates on foot until he was apprehended after a brief struggle.
Four officers received various injuries during the struggle, and Yates also received minor injuries as a result of jumping out of a moving vehicle. He was placed under arrest and transported to a local hospital for treatment before being booked at the jail.
