Susan G. Komen 3-Day Begins Thursday
DETROIT (WWJ) - Whether they're survivors, loved ones or friends, everyone walking this weekend has a reason to tackle 60 miles in three days: They all want to help end breast cancer forever.
One of those walkers is Debbie Eichholtz, who is participating in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the fifth time this year,
Eichholtz said, for each year she's walked the 3-Day, another friend has gotten that devastating diagnosis.
"There's not enough that we can do for these women," Eichholtz told WWJ Health Reporter Sean Lee. "They're being robbed of part of their dignity. You're losing part of yourself; and it's an important part of who women see theirselves as."
"It's important if you can to take some time out to help others be aware that it really is an epidemic in our society," she said.
Thousands are expected to participate Aug. 15-17.
Debbie says if you want to be a part of the 3-Day, you can volunteer or you can show up and support walkers at the cheering stations.
