Sunday Morning Alcohol Sales Begin
You can now buy alcohol on Sunday morning in Michigan. The law changed at 7 a.m. Sunday for those stores & restaurants that have permits.
Holiday Market in Royal Oak can sell alcohol on Sunday mornings now, but spirits manager Lou Morelli doesnt' expect a huge jump in sales.
"I don't think anything that we're really going to notice, you know. If somebody buys a bottle of cognac at 12 noon on Sunday and they buy it on 9 o'clock on Sunday, there's not much difference at all."
The manager of the Emory in Ferndale, Emily Husband, thinks it'll make a difference for her customers.
"Now, we're open for breakfast on Saturdays as well, so we've always been able to serve a bloody Mary or a mimosa with breakfast on Saturday, but it's pretty exciting that we can do it on Sunday now."
Not every city is going along with this. Garden City, Commerce Township, and Flint are among the communities saying no to Sunday morning alcohol sales.
