Suit By Carlita Kilpatrick Dismissed In TX Court
A lawsuit filed by the wife of ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to stop authorities in Michigan from capturing the family's assets has been dismissed. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy says Thursday in a release that a federal judge in Fort Worth, Texas, dismissed the suit earlier this week.
Carlita Kilpatrick's filing in April sought to separate assets belonging to her and the couple's three young sons from those of her husband. It named Worthy as a defendant.
Worthy says the lawsuit's aim was to interfere with Kwame Kilpatrick's probation violation case. He is serving at least 14 months in state prison and faces federal fraud and tax charges.
The Associated Press left a message Thursday seeking comment from Carlita Kilpatrick's attorney, Bobbie Edmonds.
