Student Shot Near School Grounds
DETROIT (WWJ) - A 16-year-old student has been shot outside Kettering High School. The victim told police he was with a group of friends when they were approached by another group and shots were fired.
The victim, who police say was a student at Southeastern High, was hit in the backside and transported to the hospital. He is expected to be okay.
Detroit Public School spokesman Steve Wasko told the Detroit News that the student was shot after a group of Southeastern students protested Friday afternoon against cuts to the school's fine arts program by walking out of school this afternoon.
Detroit school officials say the shooting did not happen on school property. Police are still looking for the shooter.
