Sexual Assault, Armed Robbery Reported On University Of Michigan Campus
ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Police at the University of Michigan are alerting students and faculty after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted while jogging around campus.
The incident happened around 8 p.m. Friday on a path at the Geddes Street entrance of the Nichols Arboretum.
The woman, a student at the university, told police she was running down the path when an unknown male grabbed her arm, pulled her to the ground, punched her in the face and sexually assaulted her.
The woman was eventually able to break free and ran out of the Arboretum to safety, police said.
According to witness descriptions, the suspect is a white male in his 20s, taller than 5'7" with an average build and brown hair. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt.
Hours later -- around 2 a.m. Saturday morning -- an armed robbery was reported about four miles from the sexual assault. The two robbery victims had invited new acquaintances to their apartment and were robbed at gunpoint in their own home.
