Student Faces Discipline After Ammunition, Rifle Found In Car
BRONSON (WWJ/AP) - A student faces discipline by his school district after a rifle and ammunition were found in his parked car.
Administrators at Bronson Junior Senior High were doing a routine check Tuesday of parking stickers when ammunition was spotted in the student's car. Schools Superintendent Jim Myers said police later found the rifle in the rear seat.
The student told police the rifle is used for squirrel hunting and was left accidentally in the car.
Police determined there was no threat to students or staff at the school. Parents in the district were later notified of the incident.
Myers said the student is cooperating and will be disciplined according to school policy and the law.
Bronson is about 80 miles southeast of Grand Rapids in Branch County. The school teaches students in grades 7 through 12.
