More Storms Possible Late Saturday
DETROIT (WWJ) - A few lingering showers and maybe a thunderstorm will be moving through the region Saturday night.
Earlier forecasts had called for some more severe weather -- worrying those who were headed out to the Belle Isle Detroit Grand Prix and the 99.5 WYCD Downtown Hoedown -- but the afternoon stayed dry, and later Saturday it looked like the threat might have dissipated.
Forecasters said Metro Detroit could see some rain in the late evening, and there was still a chance for a thunderstorm after midnight.
WWJ AccuWeather Meteorologist Dave Bower said this strong front, it will be cloudy and much cooler, down into the 70s, with another shower possible Sunday.
Meantime, utility crews were working to restore power to thousands of homes and businesses that went dark during Thursday's storm storms. DTE Energy said they had all but a few thousand -- of an initial 24,000 -- still without electricity late Friday, primarily in the Pontiac and Wixom area. A spokesman said they hoped to have everyone back on the grid this weekend.

Saturday night: Mostly cloudy with thunderstorms and rain showers, then a chance of a thunderstorm and a chance of rain after midnight. Low of 66F. Winds from the SW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 80% with rainfall amounts near 0.8 in. possible.
Sunday: Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain. High of 73F. Winds from the West at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 30%.
Sunday night: Partly cloudy. Low of 50F. Winds from the NW at 5 to 15 mph.
Monday: Clear. High of 70F. Winds less than 5 mph.
Monday Night: Clear. Low of 48F. Winds from the NW at 5 to 10 mph.
