Strong-Arm Robbery Suspect Arrested In Auburn Hills
AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) - Police say a 21-year-old Auburn Hills man was arrested for a strong-arm robbery and investigators believe he may be responsible for similar crimes in Oakland County.
Auburn Hills police say Melvin Boothe is charged with unarmed robbery in connection with a Nov. 29 incident at the Rite Aid Pharmacy on South Boulevard.
Investigators say Boothe forcefully took a gold chain from an elderly female as she was walking to her car in the parking lot. He then fled the scene.
Then, on Thursday, Dec. 6, information was broadcast to area departments to be on the look-out for a vehicle which was involved in a strong-arm robbery at the Hollywood Market in Bloomfield Township and at Walmart in Rochester Hills.
An officer from the Auburn Hills Police Department located the suspect vehicle traveling through Auburn Hills. The vehicle was stopped and Boothe was taken into custody.
If convicted as charged, Boothe could face up to 15-years behind bars. Boothe was jailed on a $100,000 cash bond and is due back in court for a pre-exam conference on Dec. 13.
The Auburn Hills Police Department was assisted by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office in this investigation.
