Southfield (CW50) - This week on STREET BEAT, we join Rob Stone to learn how local organizations are working to protect Athletes on and off the field.

First, we speak with Special Tree's COO, Joseph J. Richert and Chief Nursing Officer, Lela Hickonbottom to focus on the education of concussions.

Then we talk to Sarah Renberg, sophomore at the University of Michigan in the LSA Honors Program, and Program Development Coordinator and Director of Research at the Headway Foundation to talk about the effects on Athletes.

Next, we speak to Dr. Grant Goulet, Xenith's Vice President of Product Innovation, to see how protective gear is advancing on the field.

And lastly, we wrap up our show by talking with Brother Rice Director of Athletics, Jeff Calcaterra as he explains to us the new rules for Youth Athletics.
