Thousands Still Without Power Following Storms
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ)- As of 5:30 Tuesday morning, about 11,000 DTE Energy customers were still without power, down from 125,000, following stormy weather that hit southeastern Michigan Saturday evening. Some people won't see power restored until sometime later Tuesday or Wednesday.
Speaking live on WWJ Newsradio 950, DTE Energy spokesman Len Singer said most of the outages are in western Wayne County.
"Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, Westland area, but we also have customers out as far away as St. Clair County and Sanilac County," Singer said.
Singer said work continued throughout the day Monday. Crews will also be working on Tuesday and Wednesday to complete the restoration process. More than 200 utility workers from across Michigan and other states are working to restore service.
