Power Still Out For 3K
About 3,000 DTE customers were without power Friday morning, following surprise storms that brought heavy rain and high winds to parts of Metro Detroit Thursday afternoon.
A DTE spokesman told WWJ that as of 4 a.m. Friday, most of the outages were in the Flat Rock, Rockwood, and Gibraltar areas in southern Wayne County, and Carleton in Monroe County. Crews were expected to complete repairs Friday.
National Weather Service storm reports indicate trees and power lines were down in Gibraltar, Rockwood and Grosse Ile. In Gibraltar, winds blew down a garage, but there were no injuries.
A 53-mile-per-hour wind gust was reported in Wyandotte. A 44 mph wind gust was reported on Grosse Ile.
