Storms Flood Streets In Ann Arbor; Metro Detroit Soaked As Heavy Rain Hits

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Heavy rain hit across southeast Michigan leaving some communities under water.
One area hit particularly hard was Ann Arbor, with flooded streets.

Cars make their way through deep flooding on East Stadium in Ann Arbor Sunday afternoon.

At least one area building, Beth Israel Congregation, suffered significant damage.

A leak in the roof of the congregation building on Washtenaw Ave. in Ann Arbor led to some water damage in the congregation's sanctuary, social room and school.

In Wayne County, Garden City and Romulus both had nearly an inch and a half of rain.

In Oakland County, Clarkston reported an inch of rain.

There was one report of penny-sized hail south of Tecumseh.

In Eagle, Michigan there are flood advisories in effect along a number of waterways in Michigan's Lower Peninsula following heavy weekend rains and a forecast calling for more storms.

The National Weather Service says Monday the Looking Glass River near Eagle in Clinton County is out of its banks and flooding is possible along the Grand River in Ionia County, Sycamore Creek in Ingham County, the Thornapple River in Barry County and the Kalamazoo River in Calhoun County.

Along the Rifle River in Arenac County, Ladd White tells WNEM-TV he locked up his canoe livery because of high water that's potentially dangerous. He hopes to resume rentals Tuesday.
