Stoney And Bill Football Picks For The Weekend Of 11-17-12
Bill has taken over the throne in the Stoney and Bill Friday picks competition and does not seem ready to gove up the crown. Stoney needs a Lionesque comeback to get back in the game.
Stoney's Picks
Michigan -17 vs Iowa
There is no line yet,as the status of Michigan quarterback remains in limbo. Iowa has beaten the Wolverines the last three times they played. Iowa has a pedestrian offense that shouldn't give Michigan any trouble. The emotion of the last game at Michigan Stadium for the seniors will be difficult for the Hawkeyes to overcome
PICK MICHIGAN
Michigan State -7 vs Northwestern
Maybe the key for the Spartans is to get a double digit fourth quarter lead, because the Wildcats can not hang on to a lead. I think this is going to be a typical MSU close game. I say they win their last home game but it will be another Spartan nailbiter.
PICK NORTHWESTERN
Oregon -20 1/2 vs Stanford
Oregon needs to run up the score to make sure they remain in the top two so they can play in the national title game. The Ducks will be able to score, but they can't stop anyone. Look for Stanford to keep this game within the point spread and cover.
PICK STANFORD
Ravens - 3 1/2 vs Steelers
The Steelers will be without Ben Roethlisberger but their style of football should be able to keep them above water with Leftwich and Batch as their quarterbacks. I usually go for the home dog in these game, but I think Baltimore is out for blood
PICK RAVENS
Lions + 3 1/2 vs Packers
No Jennings,Woodson, or Matthews for the Packers and while the Lions have injuries too it should not kill them too bad. This one is all about emotion and the Lions realize if they have any shot for the playoffs they must beat the Packers on Sunday.Aaron Rodgers is salivating about shredding the Lions secondary and he should, but as I said sometimes the home dog barks too loudly to pass up.
PICK LIONS
Bill's Picks
Michigan -17 vs Iowa
The Hawkeyes have lost four straight BUT, Michigan's Seniors have never beaten Iowa. Can Devin Gardner do it again? Yes, but Michigan doesn't cover.
Take Iowa and the points.
Michigan State -7 vs Northwestern
Northwestern is looking to bounce back after a heartbreaking loss to Michigan in overtime. The Purple Helmet Warriors still have something to play for whereas Michigan State just does nothing for me this year.
Take Northwestern and the points.
Oregon -20 1/2 vs Stanford
Stanford has a great rush defense. The Ducks are just plain great.
Take Oregon to cover.
Ravens - 3 1/2 vs Steelers
The Steelers have never beaten the Ravens when Big Ben was unable to play. The trend continues.
Take Baltimore to cover.
Lions + 3 1/2 vs Packers
Packers are coming off a bye week and they are pretty banged up. The question is, can the Lions take advantage? Yes, they need to.
Take Detroit and the points.
