Stephen Jackson Enjoyed Punching Fan At Palace
By: Ashley Dunkak
Perhaps the most infamous incident ever at the Palace of Auburn Hills was the 2004 brawl that started out as an on-court brouhaha between the Detroit Pistons and the Indiana Pacers and ended with players going into the stands when a fan threw a beer on the Pacers' Ron Artest.
The Pacers' Stephen Jackson, also involved in the melee, reflected on the cleverly titled "Malice at the Palace" Thursday and said that he enjoyed punching a fan.
"All the racial slurs I done heard, all the things about my mom, my basketball game and my kids, all this, it felt good to punch a fan one time," Jackson admitted, upon request, as his interviewers laughed. " I'm not going to lie."
For the rest of Jackson's comments, including the mind-boggling reaction of Artest as the players were sitting in the locker room after the game, see the video. The "Malice at the Palace" discussion begins at the 3:45 mark.
