Statue Depicting Donald Trump As Captain America Stolen From Livonia Lawn
LIVONIA (WWJ) - A Livonia man is looking for help in locating a 6-foot tall statue in the shape of, and in support of, Donald Trump that was swiped from his front yard.
Livonia Police Lt. Charles Lister said the resident, who is a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, wants it back.
"He had spent several hours constructing a Donald Trump 'Veterans For Trump' sign depicting Donald Trump as Captain America standing atop a pedestal adorned with two U.S. flags, and it was taken overnight," Lister told WWJ Newsradio 950's Sandra McNeill.
The red, white and blue-painted plywood cutout folk art display disappeared from outside the vet's home, in the 15400 block of Doris Street, sometime Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
Lister said the eye-catching figure had drawn plenty of comment, but the man has no idea who would have taken it.
"He handmade it himself, and had it on display on his lawn for at least a couple of weeks," Lister added. "It was attracting a lot of attention in the neighborhood — people stopping by and taking pictures of it, etc. — and he woke up this morning to find it missing."
Nothing else was taken.
Police are asking for tips in the case. Anyone with information should call 734-466-2470.
