State Earned Its No.1, But Detroit Deserved Better Than 15th
The Big Ten Tournament had morphed almost into being meaningless.
It made Sunday's championship game showdown between Michigan State and Ohio State welcome.
The undisputed Big Ten championship was, indeed, on the line. Ohio State and Michigan State had tied for the regular season title, along with Michigan, which was routed by OSU in the semifinal. And because of the way other potential top seeds fell by the wayside in various conference tourneys, a top seed in the NCAA tournament was at stake.
Michigan State earned that top seed, in the West regional, by outlasting Ohio State.
