Stafford X-Rays Negative; Rashean Mathis Doesn't Have Concussion

Not much good news came out of the Lions' crumbling loss to Minnesota Sunday, but the injury report was at least one bright spot.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford continued this season's tradition of going for X-rays after a matchup with the Vikings. During Week 2, he got his ribs and chest checked out after absorbing too many hits; on Sunday, he received X-rays on his left hand after being sacked seven times.
According to head coach Jim Caldwell, though, those X-rays were negative. Stafford said after the game that he would be fine, and that the injury didn't affect his performance. He finished the game with tape and a glove on his hand.
Cornerback Rashean Mathis also was injured during the game after delivering a particularly jarring blow to Adrian Peterson. Mathis left the field on his own accord, but went through concussion protocol during the game. He eventually returned, and finished with seven tackles and a pass breakup.
"It was deemed that he did not have a concussion, so he was cleared to go back into the game and he is fine today," Caldwell said.
Fellow cornerback Josh Wilson sat out Sunday's game after suffering a concussion sometime last week. Caldwell, however, has refused to say when Wilson suffered his concussion, or if he returned to the game against the Bears with a head injury.
