Stabbing Suspect Leads Allen Park Police On High-Speed Chase
ALLEN PARK (WWJ) - Police have one person in custody following an early morning stabbing and high-speed chase on I-94.
The incident unfolded around 2:45 a.m. Thursday when a woman was leaving her Allen Park home to go to work. The woman told police she walked out of her house and was attacked by her ex-boyfriend, who stabbed her in the chest.
Police said neighbors called 911 after hearing the woman scream and a nearby officer spotted the suspect's vehicle trying to flee the area. Officers attempted to stop the suspect's vehicle, but the man refused to pull over and a chase ensued.
Additional officers joined the pursuit as the suspect got onto westbound I-94, reportedly hitting speeds over 100 miles per hour. The chase eventually ended on I-94 near Huron Street in Ypsilanti, where the suspect was taken into custody.
Police say the woman was treated at the hospital and then released.
The suspect was not identified, although police said they have had at least one other issue with him in the past. Charges are pending.
The incident remains under investigation. Police are expected to release additional information later Thursday.
