St. Clair Shores Honors Vets With Memorial Day Parade
ST. CLAIR SHORES (WWJ) - Marching bands, military vehicles, law enforcement officers on horseback.
It was all a part of St. Clair Shores annual Memorial Day parade. Shannon Pleva of St. Clair Shores came with her family to watch the parade. What does Memorial Day mean to her?
"It means community, family, getting together it brings our whole city together, just to have a good time and celebrate all the veterans," said Pleva.
Pleva's younger sister, a member of the High School Unified Hockey Team, marched in the parade with her teammates.
Anthony Romolino of Grosse Pointe brought his two young daughters to the parade.
"I've got two young daughters and I want to expose my daughters to a little bit of national attention and honor Memorial Day," he said.
Romolino's daughters Isabelle and Lily dressed in their red, while and blue to celebrate the day.
"Both my father and my grandfather were veterans and I've got a lot of police in the family as well - it's a day of remembrance and it's a day that Americans should take seriously ... it's why we have our freedom," Romolino said.
