Spirit Airline Flight Attendants Stage 'Informational Picket'
DETROIT (WWJ) - A picket outside Metro Airport this afternoon. Spirit Airlines flight attendants staged an informational picket for a few hours at the north terminal. Nicole Trupiano is the local council president of the Association of Flight Attendants.
Flight attendants are seeking more rest between long flights, addressing on-call work and they're fighting it says Trupiani.
Spirit Airlines flight attendants have been working without a contract since 2007.
Spirit spokeswoman Misty Pinson said in a released statement that the flight attendants do a great job for the company and its passengers.
"We are committed to reaching a fair agreement that rewards our flight attendants for their contribution and helps in propelling the company's growth," Pinson says.
"That the pilots were here less than a year ago. It took a five-day strike to get a resolution and a signed contract. We surely hope it doesn't head that way, but we're ready to go the distance," says Pinson.
