Spartan Senior Demetrious Cox Cited For Misdemeanor Assault
EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State University senior defensive back Demetrious Cox has been cited for misdemeanor assault.
The Lansing State Journal, citing court records, says Cox was arrested at 3 a.m. last Thursday in East Lansing. He didn't play Saturday at Penn State due to what coach Mark Dantonio said was a violation of team rules.
Cox tells the State Journal that he's been "falsely accused." He says he was outside a restaurant when police approached him and said he matched the description of someone who was wanted.
East Lansing police Lt. Scott Wriggelsworth declined to comment because Cox has not appeared in court. The Detroit News says an arraignment is scheduled for Dec. 5.
Cox, a Pennsylvania native, was disappointed that he couldn't play his final college game in his home state.
