Southfield Man Charged With Murdering Wife In Front Of Kids
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - A 38-year old man has been charged with open murder after allegedly strangling his wife in front of their three daughters. Police said Rahim Lockridge murdered his wife following an argument about money.
It happened Monday night at the family's home on Potomac Street in Southfield.
Police told WWJ Newsradio 950 the girls, ages 8, 11, and 16, begged their father to stop, trying to pull him off of their mother. But when he finally let go, the 32-year old woman slumped to the floor.
Police said as their father fled the scene, the kids dialed 9-1-1. Lockridge was arrested a short time later in Detroit.
He was arraigned Thursday before 46th District Court Judge William Richards. Bond was denied, with the added conditions that he is not to see his children or any other of his wife's family members.
Lockridge is scheduled appear in court again next Monday.
