Reward Offered For Info In Party Store Shooting
A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect who shot and killed a Southfield party store owner.
The owner of Cronin's Liquor Store in Southfield was fatally shot broad daylight at the store and investigators believe it was not a random act. Thursday, police were searching for the gunman.
Witnesses tell police the 48-year old Mike Khomorow was taking trash to the dumpster, behind the store on Northwestern Highway, north of 12 Mile Road around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, when he was shot multiple times.
The Farmington Hills man was rushed to Beaumont Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police believe the shooting was a hit, and did not appear to be a robbery.
Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots and then observed a black, 4-door, mid-size SUV, possibly a GMC Envoy, exit the parking lot. The vehicle was occupied by a thin male with a dark complexion wearing a light colored dress shirt.
Police are reviewing video from a nearby surveillance camera (image at top left).
The victim's cousin, Mark Khomorow, said his uncle was a kind man and only wanted to provide for his family. "He never had problems with customers, he's a good guy," said Mark Khomorow, who added that the family is having a very difficult time coping with the shooting, "they can't talk, they just cry, and they don't believe it."
The victim was married, with three children.
Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Southfield Police Department at (248) 796-5500.
