Southfield Freeway Re-opened
ALLEN PARK (WWJ) - After being shutdown for more than a day, the northbound and southbound lanes of the Southfield Freeway, M-39, reopened Wednesday night.
The freeway was closed at Outer Drive in Allen Park after constant rain forced the Ecorse Creek over its banks and onto the roadway.
Michigan Department of Transportation crews inspected the roadway to make sure it was safe before giving the okay to remove the barricades and barrels.
High water also forced the closure of Van Horn at Fort Street in Trenton, and the closure of Hayes Road between Utica and 17 Mile Road in Sterling Heights.
