Rip Hamilton was benched for the third game in a row-despite the Pistons losing point guard, Tracy McGrady in the first period against Sacramento Saturday night.
Carmelo Anthony of the Denver Nuggets could reportedly be traded next week. Posted by Ben Golliver.
Multiple reports surfaced on Thursday night that indicated trade talks between the Denver Nuggets, New Jersey Nets and Detroit Pistons were back in full swing, and that Nuggets All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony could be traded to the Nets next week.
TNT correspondent David Aldridge, reporting from Denver during a game between the Nuggets and Miami Heat, said during the first half of Thursday night's broadcast that talks were "on" again and that the three-team trade that circulated last week could be consummated as soon as "next week."
The Bergen Record posted a similar report late Thursday night.
The Nets, Nuggets and Pistons are once again engaged in serious discussions on a blockbuster trade that could involve 14-to-16 players not including draft picks.
According to multiple league sources an agreement on the deal, which was close to happening last weekend, could be reached at some point next week. It's possible there could be an agreement by the time the Nets end their trip Monday at Golden State.
Also Thursday night, CBSSports.com's Ken Berger reported on Twitter that, "Source with knowledge of Nuggets' strategy says team is 'still talking to teams and comparing scenarios. ... Everyone is speculating.'"
The three-team trade proposal -- outlined here and reportedly close to being done last weekend -- slowed down a bit on Monday when Anthony told reporters at Nuggets practice that no trade was imminent until after he met with Nuggets management.
As we noted when the three-team trade proposal first surfaced, the outlined deal between the Nuggets, Nets and Pistons was a realistic win/win/win for the three teams involved, but hinges on whether Anthony is willing to sign an extension with the Nets.
A potential trade to the New York Knicks, who are reportedly Anthony's preferred destination, was also discussed Thursday.
