Sony Begins Restoring PlayStation Networks In U.S.
DETROIT (WWJ) - Sony says it has begun restoring its PlayStation Network service in the United States and Europe. The service was shut down almost a month ago after a massive security breach.
Sony shut it down on April 20 after discovering the security breach affecting over 100 million online accounts.
Ryan Wooley is a PlayStation fan and had this to say about the direction Sony is taking:
"I think they made the right call, because when you look at it, it's better to be safe than sorry, it's a free network, it's not like X-Box where you have to pay $60 dollars a year, it's a free network and if they can make it secure going forward, that's what they have to do," says Wooley.
The network serves both the PlayStation video game machines and Sony's Qriocity movie and music services. It is a system that also allows users to upgrade and download games and other content.
