Son Of Former Giants' Player Pleads Guilty In Hit-And-Run

SOMERVILLE, N.J. (AP) — The son of a former New York Giants Super Bowl champion has pleaded guilty in an assault by auto case.

Clint Benson now faces up to seven years in prison.

The 23-year-old Hillsborough man pleaded guilty Monday to assault by auto, possession of hollow-point bullets and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also pleaded guilty to several motor-vehicle offenses, including drunken driving.

The charges stem from a 2013 incident outside a bar in Branchburg where authorities say Benson hit a man from behind with his pickup truck and fled the scene. That came after the victim had accused Benson of driving recklessly.

The victim suffered a fractured skull, bruised lungs and other injuries.

Benson is the son of Brad Benson, an offensive lineman on the Giants' 1987 Super Bowl team.
