Son: My Dad's Killer Deserves Death Penalty

The son of a volunteer Taylor police officer who was killed in the line of duty last week says his father's killer deserves the death penalty.

Joseph Kromer, the son of Lieutenant Dan Kromer told WWJ's Roberta Jasina, "I wish they could. I wish Michigan wasn't such a politically-correct state. The way I see it, there needs to be an express lane for the death penalty. Because now he's gonna be a burden on you, me, and the rest of the people here in Michigan."

Lt. Kromer was killed last Tuesday night, along I-94, helping a stranded motorist. He was killed by a hit-and-run driver. Suspect Nino Delpiano, 40, of Dearborn was arrested in connection with Kromer's death. His preliminary exam is scheduled for September 22.

Visitation for Kromer is set for today and Wednesday at Martenson Funeral Home on Allen Road in Allen Park. The funeral service for Kromer will be held on Thursday at the Wayne County Community College District Downriver Campus on Northline Road in Taylor.

Donations can be made to the Family of Dan Kromer in care of the Thin Blue Line at any PNC Bank, account #4244506-209.
