Soccer Goals Taken From Special Needs Team's Field
CENTREVILLE, Mich. (AP) — Authorities in southwestern Michigan are looking for those responsible for stealing soccer goals from a field where a team for special needs players calls home.
MLive.com reports the theft is believed to have happened between Sept. 19 and Oct. 3 at the Pathfinder Panthers' field in Centreville, about 70 miles south of Grand Rapids.
The theft took place before a tournament the Panthers hosted for Special Olympics teams. The tournament went on, but with flags and cones marking goals.
Trudy Camp, adaptive physical education teacher at the St. Joseph County Intermediate School District's Pathfinder's Center, says it was a shock to discover the theft.
The goals are regulation size and are made out of metal, with orange netting. Camp says the fear is that they were sold for scrap.
