Snyder Picks Running Mate
Michigan Gubernatorial candidate Rick Snyder has chosen Representative Brian Calley as his GOP running mate for November's election.
Calley was elected to a second term in the Michigan House of Representatives in November 2008. He represents the 87th District, which includes all of Barry County and a large portion of Ionia County.
WWJ Newsradio 950's Lansing Bureau Chief Tim Skubick says "Geography means nothing here -- its a choice that Snyder obviously is comfortable with; let's see how it plays out."
And what about their personalities? Skubick says "they are both low-keyed, very methodical, very intelligent, and they are a good personality match."
But was Calley his first choice? Skubick says, "Calley was NOT the first pick, the first choice was Mike Bouchard."
Calley is a graduate of Michigan State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration, and Grand Valley State University with a master's in business administration.
Calley has spent the last ten years or so, in the banking industry.
Synder formerly announced his choice Wednesday afternoon in Grand Rapids.
