Snyder Sends Sympathy To Victims Of Tucson Shooting
Governor Rick Snyder has called Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer to offer support and prayers in the aftermath of the mass shooting that left Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords with a gunshot wound to the head. Six people died in the weekend attack in Tucson.
A Snyder spokesman said the governor didn't reach Brewer directly but left a message that Michigan residents are praying for the victims.
Calling it a despicable act, Snyder sent this word to the people of Arizona, " I want to offer my support and prayers to Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, this despicable act of violence our nation has witnessed brings tears
to all of us and the fabric of our democracy, but, you know, we'll rally from this, in the face of tragedy, our spirit will not be broken."
Gov. Snyder went further saying, "We'll emerge from this horrible incident stronger and more committed to moving our nation forward and I know the heart of every Michigander goes out to the Congresswoman, to the people hurt in this instance and the people of Arizona."
The Republican governor says Michigan will comply with President Barack Obama's request that all U.S. flags fly at half-staff through Friday.
