Snow In The Forecast
It's the four letter word that many in Metro Detroit are dreading --- snow. Ready or not, Accuweather is predicting snow showers this Thursday night into Friday.
Craig Bryson with the Oakland County Road Commission tells WWJ they probably won't need to plow the streets this week, but said they've been preparing for snow since the beginning of fall.
"Going over the maintenance of our trucks, trying to make sure all the routine maintenance is done and checking them over to make sure there isn't anything we can fix ahead of time," Bryson said.
" We've also do training for al our drivers, just to review all the basics of their job in the winter time. You know, what it's like to drive and plow and all those things. We make sure we have enough plow blades on hand," he said.
Bryson said they are fully stock and ready with salt, too, although the price has gone up.
"We're paying ten-percent more than we did last year, so that's gonna have a negative impact on our budget, obviously," he said.
Bryson said with all the cutbacks, they are down fifty snow plow drivers this year from three years ago. So ,if Michigan gets hit hard with snow this winter, there will be a noticeable difference in response time.
