Smoke Warning In St. Clair County
PORT HURON (WWJ) - St. Clair County officials are sending out a warning to their residents after winds blew heavy smoke from a massive fire burning in St. Clair Township, Ontario into the area.
Because of that, officials are asking residents with breathing problems to stay indoors.
Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management Jeffrey Friedland said they are taking the precautionary measures because of the intensity of the fiber glass burning in the building.
"It contained 65 boats, but on the positive side, St. Clair Township Fire Department was able to save a second building which contained probably as many boats," Friedland told WWJ's Zahra Huber.
Friedland said residents can come back out once they don't smell smoke any more.
