Smaller Crowd For Big Chill At Big House
Turns out, the Big Chill at the Big House wasn't as big as everyone thought.
Guinness World Records tells the Detroit Free Press that attendance for Saturday's Michigan vs. Michigan State hockey game in Ann Arbor was at 85,451.
That's far short of the announced crowd of 113,411 people. However, it's still enough to beat the old record of 77,803 set earlier this year during the IIHF world championships in Germany.
A spokesperson for U-M Hockey says the difference in figures may be attributed to different standards in counting. Michigan included people working the game such as media, staff and concession workers - but Guinness doesn't include those people in the attendance figure.
