Six Men Face Life In Prison After ATM Robbery In Warren
WARREN (WWJ) - Six men who allegedly broke into a CVS Pharmacy in Warren and stole the ATM before leading a police chase that ended in a crash on I-94 could end up spending the rest of their lives in prison.
The men -- 22-year-old Demarcus Catlin, 22-year-old Kendall Kelly, 35-year-old Frank Anderson, 34-year-old Santos Anderson, 21-year-old Daryl Jackson and 28-year-old Brandon Richards -- were arraigned Friday in Warren.
Police say the group smashed a full-size van into the CVS Pharmacy on 9 Mile, Schoenherr Road, just before 5 a.m. Thursday and stole the store's ATM. Officers responded to the scene and a slow-speed chase ensued.
Police say the chase ended on eastbound I-94 just past the I-75 interchange when the van's driver slammed into a guard rail and damaged a state police cruiser. No one was injured.
The ATM fell out of the suspects' van during the chase and was recovered, police said.
The six men were arrested after fleeing the scene of the crash on foot.
Catlin, Kelly and Santos Anderson, all Detroit residents, are charged with breaking and entering, and safe breaking. Bond was set at $ 100,000 for each.
Frank Anderson, a Hamtramck resident, is charged with breaking and entering, and safe breaking. Bond was set at $ 100,000.
Jackson, a Detroit resident, is charged with breaking and entering, safe breaking, and possession of a controlled substance. Bond was set at $ 100,000.
Richards, a Detroit resident, is charged with breaking and entering, safe breaking, flee and elude in the third degree, assault/resist a police officer, operating a motor vehicle while license suspended -- second offense, and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon. Bond was set at $ 200,000.
All men face the possibility of life in prison if convicted as charged.
