Single Car Accident Leaves One Woman Dead
DETROIT (WWJ) - A young woman is dead and a man seriously injured in a horrific accident on Detroit's east side Sunday morning.
The woman was reportedly a passenger in a car that was speeding through a residential neighborhood ... when the car slammed into a tree on Rhones and Buhl Streets.
Michael Carter lives around the corner from where the accident took place.
He tells WWJ Newsradio 950 the young woman he knows only as Nicole ... didn't have a chance.
"She died immediately ... she had to ... cause the car was split in half. When you look at it, it wasn't even a car," said Carter.
Carter says the young woman lived right down the street from where the accident occurred.
"The car was speeding down Holcolm (street) first ... all I heard was a big old crash, and I walk around the corner, and all I see is a guy laying on the ground and the car right in the tree," Carter said.
Carter tells WWJ Newsradio 950 that the victim's mother was so upset, she had to be taken to a hospital.
Police continue to investigate.
