Singer Cody Simpson Talks Olympics And Social Media
DETROIT (WWJ) - He could have been an Olympic swimmer, but instead Cody Simpson left his swimming dream to sing in the big leagues.
Already the 15-year old singer from Australia has millions and millions of fans worldwide, and he's performing Tuesday at DTE Energy Theater.
WWJ's Kathryn Larson introduces us to the young man who is in town to perform at DTE Energy Music Theater.
Cody Simpson stopped by the CBS Studios in Southfield for a meet and greet at WWJ's sister station AMP radio.

He says when he's not busy singing or doing interviews -- he's checking out his "mates" on the Australian swim team:
"One of my mates won Silver in the breast-stroke and I had another couple of good friends make the team as well, so it's good to see everyone doing well and swimming fast," said Simpson.
Simpsons' career took off overnight after he posted videos of his singing chops on YouTube.
"I definitely think the world is social media; I think it's important that I stay on twitter and Facebook, Instagram and stuff and keep up with my fans.
Now he's friends with celebrities like the Kardashians who, he says, are really nice in person:
"I think definitely more genuine once you get to know them they are just really good friends to have," he said.
Simpson performs at DTE Energy as part of Big Time Rush with Cody Simpson at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
