Should The Lions Take A Look At Ed Reed?
By 97.1 The Ticket staff
The Houston Texans are releasing All-Pro safety Ed Reed today. Reed, who was coming off a Super Bowl victory with the Baltimore Ravens, was not re-signed by the only team he had ever played for, but entered free agency this off-season when the Ravens didn't think Reed had 'it' anymore.
The Houston Texans took a flyer on Reed and it looks like that flyer has flown out the door. The Texans signed Reed for a three-year, $15 million dollar deal and gave Reed a $5 million signing bonus.
After the loss to the Cardinals on Sunday, Reed said the Texans were "outcoached" and "outplayed". Those comments weren't taken too kindly by Texans interim coach Wade Phillips who said he would like to his reaction to Reed's comments "in house."
The Lions don't have the best backups in the secondary. Behind Louis Delmas and Glover Quin at the safety spots are Don Carey and John Wendling. Carey did play a nice game against the Bears this past Sunday. But are you confident in those two backups if either Delmas or Quin went down with injury?
Would it be worth it for the Lions take a flyer on a guy like Ed Reed?
