Shots Fired Into Crowded TGI Friday's Shortly After Customers Kicked Out
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - Police are looking for two suspects who shot up a crowded TGI Friday's in Southfield, injuring a security guard who had just kicked a group of people out of the restaurant.
The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. Thursday at the TGI Friday's on Evergreen Road just south of I-696.
Police say a restaurant security guard was attempting to escort a group of men and women out of the establishment because they were attempting to purchase alcoholic beverages and would not provide identification.
Once the group was out and in the parking lot, police say someone began shooting in the direction of the restaurant and the security guard, who retreated inside.
Reports say at least a half-dozen shots were fired into the restaurant's front windows, shattering the glass. No one was struck by gunfire, but the guard sustained a minor injury to his ankle while retreating and a cut finger from the broken glass. He refused any medical attention.
Police say the suspect fled the scene in a blue Chrysler 300c south on Evergreen Road. Officers checked the area but were not able to locate the suspects or the vehicle.
Investigators are now searching for the suspects. The two male suspects in the group are described as black males, 17- to 22-years-old. One suspect is about 5'7" tall with a light complexion and medium build. The other suspect is described as being very thin.
At this time, police aren't sure which one of the suspects fired the shots.
Anyone who can identify the suspects or who has any other is urged to contact police at 248-796-5500.
