Shots Fired In Detroit Police Chase
Police have arrested an 18-year-old wanted for retail fraud, who escape from juvenile custody earlier this month.
Officers from the Wayne County Sheriff's office were executing a warrant for the teen Thursday afternoon at a home near Grand River and Evergreen on Detroit's west side.
WWJ Newsradio 950 got more details from Sheriff's Office spokesperson, Kristina Robinson.
"While the Wayne County Sheriff's officers were attempting to execute this warrent, the perpentrator attempted to run over one of the deputies... The perpentrator tried to disable the police vehicle by ramming the officer's vehicle, in which he fled the scene," Robinson said.
Police say the officer tried to stop him but slipped. In an effort not to be run over, he fired shots at the teen.
The suspect was caught a few blocks away in a vacant garage.
