Shots Fired After Attempted Break-in In Southfield
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) Southfield police have five suspects in custody in connection with an attempted home invasion early Monday morning, followed by shots fired.
The incident unfolded in the area of Potomac and Lahser, south of 12 Mile Road. A woman living in the corner house called 911, saying someone was banging on the windows, trying to get into her home, which she shares with two daughters. When police arrived on the scene, they caught one person in a van in the driveway. The stereo in that van was in the process of being removed.
Four other suspects jumped in a car and rammed a police cruiser before speeding off. Other police officers chased the suspects, who police said crashed their car at 11 Mile, west of Lahser.
At some point during the mayhem, the suspects started shooting at the officers, according to police. Two suspects were injured. All of them were taken into custody. No one in the house was hurt, however, a couple of the police officers suffered minor injuries.
