Shooting At Great Lakes Crossing
A shooting at Great Lakes Crossing Sunday afternoon sends one person to the hospital.
Auburn Hills police say a 16 and 17-year-old who have had an ongoing dispute over a girl ran into each other in the parking lot of Burlington Coat Factory.
"In a chance meeting, they ran into each other at the mall. A heated verbal argument started which ended up in a physical altercation. At that time the 16-year-old pulled a gun and shot the 17-year-old in the abdomen one time," said Lieutenant Casimir Miarka.
Miarka says the victim was with his father when the shooting took place.
"The victim's father grabbed the suspect real quick into a bear hug and everything stopped from there. Mall security, we arrived on scene, and the suspect was taken into custody," said Miarka.
The 17-year-old suffered non-life threatening injuries and is expected to be okay.
