Several Stranded On Roads Due To Heavy, Slick Snow
BAY CITY (WWJ) A backup on I-75 north just north of Bay City caused by snowdrifts and several accidents lasted for several hours, before it was cleared.
"It was just two this morning that (the slick roads) started out and then the other ones showed up trying to get around everybody, they (other cars and trucks) ended up in the median," said Jeff Guethlein, truck driver.
Guethlein was stuck in that backup but is on the road again headed home to Gaylord after being stuck on I-75 north for more than 7 hours because of snow drifts and several accidents.
"Well we had a couple of wreckers show up and a man with a snow plow in front of the wrecker, he plowed out the rest of the area, that the county didn't get to , to get us going, they got all the cars and trucks out of the ditch and here we are, we're going down the road finally," Guethlein told WWJ's Beth Fisher.
He has advice for driving in the snow. "Take it slow, take it easy . If there's, ya know, vehicles stopped on the road and they're not moving , don't try to go around them because you might end up in the ditch or cause another accident," Guethlein added, "I would of made it home in the right amount of time , but things happen..it's part of trucking, I guess.".
