Services Held For Local Author Jeffrey Zaslow
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - Friends and family of local best-selling author Jeffrey Zaslow said their final goodbyes Monday afternoon at Congregation Shaarey Zedek in Southfield.
The 53-year-old West Bloomfield man was killed Friday when he lost control of his car on a snowy road in northern Michigan. He was the husband of Fox 2 news anchor Sherry Margolis.
WWJ Newsradio 950's Mike Campbell reported that many in attendance still seemed to be having a hard to coming to grips with what happened. "He seemed to be kind of at the prime of his life at this point. It's a real loss to all of us," said one man.
"It's sad ... and there are no words to describe it," said a woman.
Among those paying their respects was Detroit radio legend Dick Purtan. "He was a wonderful guy, he was a great talent ... I know Sherry very well. That's why I'm here," Purtan said.
WWJ and Fox 2 Business Editor Murray Feldman remembered Zaslow as a person who always took time for others.
"He would always, if you said something to him, ask you three questions about it because he wanted to know more. And they were always the questions that you would never think would be asked on something because that's what he was good at. That's what he did, that's how he made a living, and that's what people read and enjoyed," Feldman said. (More on this here).
