Sensors Announces Linkup With ETAS INCA
SALINE (WWJ) -- Sensors Inc. Friday announced that the company has developed a CAN-based interface between its Semtech Ecostar line of portable emissions measurement systems and the widely deployed and universally accepted INCA software from Germany's ETAS GmbH, which used in the development of vehicle embedded systems.
"Increasingly stringent regulatory requirements for in-use testing are driving the use of PEMS beyond compliance applications into the engine design, development and certification process." said Robert Wilson, Vice President, Marketing and Sales. "As this process evolves, the ability to interface to the most widely used and accepted engine and vehicle development tools will enhance the utility of PEMS, and extend their range of applications."
Users will need an INCA software license, CAN bus interface hardware, and cabling. The Semtech emissions data simply becomes additional measurement data to INCA. Semtech emissions data may be used to adjust performance algorithms instantly and efficiently in real-time, as opposed to traditional methods employing vehicle or engine dynamometers.
"Working together, ETAS and Sensors Inc. can jointly bring an advanced development system to a wider range of users in the calibration community," states David Howarth, Director of Sales. "Our relationship with Sensors, Inc. is another example of how INCA's open architecture delivers innovative solutions to problems in a very complex environment."
Sensors manufacturers emissions test equipment world-wide, capable of measuring all currently regulated criteria pollutants generated by today's combustion engines. The company's products have been ruggedized for use in situ, but are readily adaptable to use in test cells or on a production line. The company also offers testing services for a variety of applications, including in-use compliance testing.
ETAS provides innovative software, engineering services, consulting, training, and support for the development of embedded systems for the automotive industry and other sectors of the embedded industry. ETAS is represented with international subsidiaries and sales offices in 13 countries in Europe, North and South America, and Asia.
Sensors, Inc. was founded in 1969, and has evolved to become the leader in developing innovative gas analysis technology, primarily for use in the transportation industry. The company's emissions measurement systems are used by government regulatory agencies and universities, as well as engine and vehicle manufacturers and their Tier 1 suppliers in the U.S., Europe and Asia, for the measurement of critical tailpipe gaseous and particulate emissions.
