Starting Your Own Non-profit Subject Of New Seminar
DETROIT (WWJ) - Organizers of a seminar aimed at teaching community activists how to start and maintain a non-profit organization are already looking into holding another such event. This comes on the heels of a 'How to Start a 501(c)(3) Organization' seminar Saturday that attracted a standing-room only crowd.
Lois Bingham, president of the Minerva Education and Development Foundation, which sponsored the event, said the economy is undoubtedly behind the huge turnout.
"The need is bigger than it's ever been before so there are things the government just can't provide ... so they step in to help create organizations to help fill the need," said Bingham.
Bingham says the attendees are hoping to create organizations that would improve the community.
