Secure-24 Boasts High-Efficiency Data Center
SOUTHFIELD -- Secure-24 Inc., the provider of managed IT operations, hosting and application outsourcing, is celebrating Earth Day 2012 through two green events in metro Detroit, continuing a commitment to reducing its CO2 footprint.
Secure-24 participated in the Farmington Hills Earth Day Walk on Friday, April 20, and will be joining Greening of Detroit for a park cleanup on Wednesday April 25.
Secure-24 also reported Friday that its award-winning data center located in Plymouth Township measures a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) rate of 1.6. A data center PUE is determined by the amount of power the facility actually uses to run computing equipment, in contrast to cooling and other overhead. Industry surveys report an average data center PUE of 2.0. Secure-24's lower PUE value translates into a more highly efficient data center.
Secure-24 invested $5 million to build the Plymouth Township data center from the ground up in 2009. The company said that in building the data center, every element was designed with reducing the carbon footprint in mind. Features -- such as leveraging Michigan's abundant cold temperatures, cold aisle containment, high-density servers, virtualization and cloud computing, and even sensor driven lighting -- all contribute to increasing energy efficiency.
Throughout all of its data centers, Secure-24 invests in smart technology in each piece of the equipment and architecture that it leverages. From converged computing solutions to next-generation CPU microarchitectures, Secure-24 reduces its energy demands by using more efficient systems that require less data center space - taking advantage of efficient cooling in a compact environment.
Employees at all of Secure-24's data centers continuously achieve high goals for reducing energy consumption, while maintaining security and reliability for IT infrastructure-outsourcing clients across the globe. In addition, Secure-24 is dedicated to implementing green ideas from its employees through an internal environmental team focused on helping the company lower its carbon footprint and improving quality of life. The company has also created a recycling program for consumable products by repurposing retired network equipment for various training programs throughout Metro Detroit.
Secure-24 is a SAP Certified Hosting and Cloud Provider with a broad SAP Basis Competency Center, and an Oracle Platinum Partner for hosting Oracle Enterprise Performing Management solutions, such as Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, and Hyperion.
