Seacrest Confirms: Kim Kardashian To Divorce
"Keeping Up With The Kardashians" producer and "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest confirmed the news that had the Internet world buzzing Monday -- Kim Kardashian is filing for divorce.
After just 72 days of marriage, Kardashian, 31, is done with her basketball playing husband Kris Humphries, 26.
"Yes @kimkardashian is filing for divorce this morning. I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few mins," Seacrest Tweeted.
Kardashian later released a statement to the E! News website that said:
"After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best."
The Twitter-sphere reacted immediately -- mostly with criticism over the fact a reported $17 million wedding kicked off a marriage that barely lasted two months.
"Not sure if you're smart enough to know this @KimKardashian, but you're the laughing stock of the world," one man Tweeted.
What happens next?
Kardashian and her family have not spoken publicly on the split, but on the just-aired wedding special on E! Entertainment, the couple made it clear they had a prenuptial agreement. See a photo gallery of pre-divorce Kardashian here.
