Schuette: Criminals Taking Advantage Of Medical Marijuana Law
LANSING (WWJ) - Michigan voters approved the medical marijuana act to help those with pain find another legal way to deal with their pain.
Now, Bill Schuette the State Attorney General says criminals are taking advantage of the Michigan Medical Marijuana Law.
"Greater than 70 percent of these certifications have been issued by 55 .... a very small group of doctors, so you understand there is a scheme going on here," said Schuette.
Schuette says others are basically taking advantage of those that do have a painful disease and do need relief, "... by those that have (a) criminal desire or they want to cash in, in their own commercial enterprise, at the expense of those who do indeed have a debilitating disease, and that's wrong," said Schuette.
A package of bills to address the loop-holes that are allegedly in the law, are set for Fall debate in Lansing.
